It just takes some work on your side to do it. You can make an RPGMaker MV game look exactly like the older versions of RPGMaker. Older versions are built around different ratios, sometimes with the characters being a different ratio than the floors/walls/etc. RPGMaker VX and VX Ace is built around 32x32. You'll also have to adjust the art to fit as well. Increase the size of the tiles, fewer will fit on the screen. So if you do things to increase or decrease the size of the tiles, you'll need to keep that in mind.

Rpgmaker’s sprites are supposed to have 12 equal cells split into 4 rows and 3 columns. It was just better to organize them together on various sheets. Undertale was not made in rpgmaker so the way those sprites have been formatted are not compatible with the way rpgmaker reads sprites. I have not completely finished the sprite yet but wanted to put it into the software to see how it moves and such.
